Work History

VTUK

Job Title – Software Developer
Dates of Employment – 03/09/2018 – Present

As a Software Developer, I have been fulfilling more of a full-stack role. I have not only been utilised for my front-end development skills (HTML, CSS & JavaScript), but I also go beyond that and develop the back-end and database side too (C# MVC, ASP.NET & SQL Server). The primary focus of my role has been to develop the company's new flagship product, however I have also created client websites and maintained our legacy products.

DAC Beachcroft

Job Title – IT Technical Developer
Dates of Employment – 26/03/2018 – 31/08/2018

As an IT Technical Developer, my main responsibilities were to develop in several case management systems including SolCase, VisualFiles, Proclaim & Partner for Windows. As well as developing in case management systems, I have also used C# to create an executable which integrates with SolCase and amend several C# applications in order to migrate over to another share drive. During my time at DAC Beachcroft, I drastically decreased the backlog of BAU work which the development team had before I joined. This allowed the team to concentrate on projects which needed to be delivered to important clients.

TLT LLP

Job Title – IT Junior Process Developer/IT Process Developer
Dates of Employment – 16/06/2014 – 23/03/18

As a Process Developer, my main responsibilities were to develop in SolCase (case management system). My role also consisted of developing reports and altering databases in SQL Server. I developed and maintained existing applications built in Microsoft K2, while working in the Agile framework and using TFS. During my employment here, I trained myself to have a basic understanding of C# and .NET and have created some small applications.

Graphics Designer

Freelance
Dates of Employment - 2008 – 2009

I began teaching myself graphics design with Adobe Photoshop CS2, simply because I enjoyed art and then noticed the creative things that graphics designers were capable of. I followed tutorials and joined a few graphics design forums online which increased my knowledge and improved my skills. I soon realised that graphics design was a potential market and branded myself. I attracted small time artists and built a fairly reasonable client base which resulted in revenue.

Projects

These are some small projects I have worked on during my spare time:

EasyWake - Your S.A.D Light Alarm

EasyWake is a S.A.D light alarm which is made to mimic the sunrise on dark mornings, to help people who get S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) in the winter 🌚

EasyWake will gradually light up your room over the course of 10 minutes before your alarm time. You also have the option to select a sound which gradually increases in volume too (Ocean waves 🌊, Rain pattering 🌧, or Birds tweeting 🐦)

I built this app using Angular and then combined it with NativeScript to make it a native app.

All of the settings are saved to the local device using local storage so no database is needed.

It's a pretty simplistic application, however I'm always finding ways to update and improve it.

You can get this app now for Android on the Google Play Store. Just click the button below or search EasyWake in the Play Store.

ToDo C# MVC Application

I started this as an after-work project to improve my knowledge of C# MVC and my general back-end development knowledge.

This project has included:

  • Back-end development including C# MVC & SQL Server
  • Ability to add attachments to ToDo tasks
  • OAuth2 (Google & Facebook) sign-in and GMail integration
  • Emails sent out to users daily with ToDo expiry notifications
  • Use of Azure & Data Migration Assistant to publish
This project was thoroughly enjoyable as I needed to develop all aspects of the application. From back-end and database design, to researching UI/UX for the front-end, to using API's and publishing to Azure with data migrations.

Dru - Blow The Doors Off (Song Artwork)

I was asked by a friend to create some artwork for one of his upcoming song releases. Straight away I had some ideas of how this could look!

I used an image from the famous scene from the original Italian Job film. I gave my friend around eight different designs which included variations of text and logo alterations.

The artwork is currently on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud and can even be found on the music feature on Instagram Stories!

Daily Resource application

I took over this C# application at a very basic stage as I could see many ways this could be improved.

Some of my improvements were:

  • changing the graphical design to company house style
  • adding several features and changing the email function to be dynamic and professional
  • saving the data back to a SQL database to be used in Excel reports for my Team Leader

Alphabet Typing Game

I created this multi-form Windows application to increase my knowledge of C#. My aim was to try make it dynamic and functional as possible and try to include as many different features as I could.

The main features of this includes:

  • consistent graphical design throughout the entire application (spanning over a total of 3 forms)
  • several game modes with timers and validation
  • high scores function which writes and reads from a SQL database

Jojo - Identity

This is a practice graphic design project for a singer. This project was spontaneous as I just had the urge to create a mini-project and see what I could do after not doing graphic design for so long.

This project included:

  • album cover (front and back)
  • tour poster
  • promotional album poster

Hobbies and Interests

My main hobby is playing football for Shrivenham FC. I devote a lot of my time and effort to improve as a footballer and perform to the best of my ability week in, week out. This has been proven to pay off, as in my last two seasons I have been awarded the Manager's Players of the Year award at two separate clubs. Other hobbies and interests include going to the gym and spending quality time with friends. Recently I’ve become interested in the stock market and also property, as owning several properties is a goal of mine in the future.
